The plight of at least some migrant workers in Thailand is well-known – thousands are abused, ill-paid, exploited and hurt or even killed. Today, 40 child maids (as young as 12) have been reported to have fled their abusive employers. Local people prefer to hear Lao girls for domestic labour because ‘they can communicate well in Thai and are honest’ – or, in other words, people from other countries (i.e. Burma) are dishonest. Meanwhile, the government’s attempts to criminalise the Rohingya refugees continues apace (assisted by the compliant media) as the Department of Special Investigations now considers the Rohingyas to be involved with organized crime, drugs smuggling and even terrorism (according to this story anyway).

In addition to the continuing protests by pro-democracy demonstrators against the illegitimacy of the quisling government, a censure debate will shortly commence and will focus on allegations of hiding of assets by the family of PM Abhisit. It remains to be seen whether the Vejjajiva clan will be found to have done anything wrong – the tests are so complex for rich people like them that it takes a great deal of effort to comply with all of them. It is amusing to see the PM now squirming with hypocrisy about not involving his family in politics after the disgraceful way his party behaved in the past.

The headless foreigner case has moved on to identifying the poor person involved, who is said to be Maurizio Tosadori. Police are proceeding with the suicide case and have made available some photos of Signor Tosadori before and, indeed, after his death.
