Sadao district of Songkhla province, on the border with Malaysia, has become a bustling hub of business and investment as people move out of the neighbouring areas in which terrorism has become endemic (http://www.bangkokpost.com/Business/03Sep2007_biz25.php). It is an ill wind indeed that blows nobody any good and, despite labour shortages amounting to 20-30,000 workers, there are parts of the Southern region which are apparently booming.
More than 60% of
Residents living close to Suvarnabhumi airport have been complaining about the noise of late night flights and have threatened to release balloons to confuse pilots and air traffic controllers. Now, the Airports of Thailand authority is handing out ear plugs and sleeping pills (http://www.bangkokpost.com/News/03Sep2007_news02.php). Jing.

I couldn’t post on Friday because of the very poor network, which persisted throughout most of last week. It seems to be a little better so far today – and now I have written that, then it has completely stopped.
