PAD thugs continued to attack the police over the weekend, forming convoys and smashing through police roadblocks and trying to run down officers in the way. Why did they not act? - police chiefs refused to obey government instructions to act – why not, the army chief has refused to obey orders for months now and affects to hold a position of ‘neutrality’ – that will be neutral between the democratically elected government and a gang of murderous thugs sworn to bring down the democratic system by disenfranchising the poor. Lovely.
- The police thought it would be too difficult. There are hundreds of human shields in the airports – women and children, cynically positioned by PAD ringleaders and the damage to the airport (already apparently extensive owing to PAD vandalism and theft, reportedly) might have been severe.
