Good morning,

Naughty police officers are to be issued with a pink ‘Hello Kitty’ armband which they are supposed to wear over the top of their uniform (http://www.bangkokpost.com/News/06Aug2007_news02.php). Naughty deeds include parking in an illegal spot, being the subject of a complaint for poor service and fighting. I am not making this up.

The Public Health Ministry has announced that 193 people have been killed in the Southern insurgency so far this year and more than one thousand wounded (http://www.bangkokpost.com/topstories/topstories.php?id=120664).

The Labour Ministry is establishing a mobile unit for workers laid off at the Thai Silp garment factory to help them find new jobs (http://etna.mcot.net/query.php?nid=30870). It is reported that there are some 15,000 vacancies available, although of course not all of them will be suitable.

The Stock Exchange is down 25 points after two hours of trading, presumably resulting from the American housing problems. Perhaps it will bounce later.
